Decomposing Wreck

Panagiotis
This world
home to pirate pedlars
tramps, villains
vagabonds
desperate
Crew abandoned
Poseidon struck
Drifting loose
Washed aground
Sanctuary to payload
Only briefly
Goods consumed
Burnt away
In tales never told
By people
Who’ll never meet
Human life stories
Thirty four years
Time still ticking
shards of metal
dropping, dripping, trickling
Blending infinite pebbles
Grinding to dust
Spinning globe
People come, go
slow go slow
rusting, bending
disintegrating
One hundred
Two hundred
Five hundred
Thousand
Years later

Fine sand mixed with ship particles
mistaken by future civilisations as
naturally occurring minerals
Disputes over the legend
Nonessential history
discarded, replaced
A king, or queen
or witnesses
speaking
Truth
o
.
